The Warmth of Home
I walk through my front door and into my home,
My dog is there holding a bone.
His tail is moving so fast,
He gives me a lick as I walk past.
My brother looks up from his homework with a smile,
We've been at school and haven't seen each other in a while.
I smell something delicious in the air,
I don't know what it is but I know my mom will share.
She greets me with a cupcake,
and my smile, I do not have to fake.
My dad is home now, and starts to cook,
After dinner he sits with me and reads a book.
It doesn't matter what happens in my day,
When I get home everything is okay.
At home people are always around,
and together I feel safe and sound.
Family, no matter what its form,
will make a home loving and warm.
