What My Home Means To Me

Home is a warm place where I feel loved and safe. A house is just a cold empty place made out of different building materials. Home is where I can see my family and friends hanging out with me and doing lots of amazingly fun stuff. In a house I see walls holding up a roof. Home is where I smell the scent of the tasty food I eat, the clothes that I wear, and the scent of my family. In a house I smell the scent of rock concrete, aging wood, and rusting metal. Home is where I hear the thundering laughter of my family and them saying I love you. In a house all I hear are the hushed creaking of the floor and the ghostly turning of a doorknob. Home is where I touch my family when I give them tight hugs and sit chatting with each other during dinner. In a house I touch the frosty walls, floors, stairs, and furniture. Home is where I can taste the delicious food that my parents have made for us. In a house I can taste the coldness of the food in the fridge and the warmth of the food in the oven or microwave. As you can see there are big differences between a home and a house and I’m so grateful that I have both. Hopefully with the help of Habitat for Humanity everyone can get a house that will become their home.
