Home

My mom and my dad divorced when I was 5 years old. Usually, parents getting a divorce is a bad thing. I’m not saying it’s a good thing for me, its just that even with that, I can feel my mom putting all her energy, money, and heart to me. I can feel my brother being strong for me. I can feel that even if I don’t get to see my dad so often since he is in China, I still live in a safe, pure and loving environment. This is my home. Home doesn’t need to be millions and millions of dollars for allowance. Home doesn’t need to be gold all around. Home doesn’t need to be money or power. Home is your heart, your love, your feelings, your appreciation. Home to me is your most normal, even poor life, lived happily, and enjoyingly. Home is the most normal thing, but valued the most, because there you can always sit around a small dirty table and have an only leftover dinner after a whole day of exhausting work but smile and laugh. This is a place you can always be yourself. This is home. In conclusion, I slowly realized that all along, Home to me is everything. Because without home I wouldn’t have anything. I wouldn’t have memories in a safe and joyful environment. I also wouldn’t learn anything. I wouldn’t learn to forgive. I wouldn’t learn to love. I wouldn’t learn to have feelings. Home is what you feel with your heart, mind, soul and body. I want other people to be able to say what I said too. That’s why I’m here, entering a piece of writing I wrote with my heart, mind, soul and body to Habitat for Humanity, helping others in need.
