Thankful To Have Canada As My Home
Home is the cornerstone of life.
Family originates from it.
Each one of us resides with our families under the same roof.
It is the simplest form of how our community is formed.
Everyone deserves a home no matter what your origin, your culture or your ethnicity is.
Home is a place where I find close to my heart.
It is a place where I find freedom to do whatever I want without any worries.
It is the place that I find most comforting whether I sleep, eat and play.
It is the place where I grew up all these years.
It is the place I treasure most.
It is the place where I see my family.
It is the place without fear and where all happiness begins.
Unfortunately, the homes that we bond so closely and familiarize with have a different story to be told.
They are the homes of our ancestors, the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh.
They were the original settlers who have paved the path for us as we call our home to this day.
Tremendous pain and suffering and the sacrifices they have made for us so that we call it our home.
We are grateful and thankful for what they have accomplished for us.
No words to describe the young children who had to go through all these terrible things in the residential schools.
We remember them in our prayers.
And if it was not for them, we will never be able to confidently claim this land as my home!
I am truly grateful and blessed to have Canada as my home.
