The Sound of Home
The Sound of Home
By: Margaret Wang (Gr.5)
Ding Dong! my parents come home,
To where all our memories belong.
Sizzle Crackle! my parents make food,
But not every person gets to eat everyday.
Thump Thwack! The sounds of volleyball in my backyard,
But not everyone can afford to play sports.
Zzz Zzz! I fall asleep,
In my comfortable bed that most take for granted.
Home is a place to relax and recharge after a whole day of working hard,
Home is a place to feel warm and safe when it’s snowing or raining outside.
But not everyone can afford a home,
Not everyone can enjoy warm home-made food after a day of hard work
Habitat for Humanity kindly provides a home
Where the less fortunate can build their own warm memories of home
A house can be a home, but a home isn’t always a house.
Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving the less fortunate the things we, the more fortunate, might take for granted.
