What a home means to me
When you have a house it is not a home. A home is a place where you can have memories and loved ones but a house is just a building waiting to be a home. I, Maya, have moved from another country and the house was not a home right away. It took a while to call it home.
I remember after my family went on vacation when we got home it was the first time Mom had heard us say “it's good to be back home”. If you have moved before you will know that it is not easy having to leave a home with all the memories, the love and the hope but if your family is with you, you know it will be alright.
A home is a place you can memorize. Try it - stop reading and think of your home. It feels warm, doesn't it? A home is a place you love. A home is not a house if you do not love it. A home is a feeling, not a place or a thing. When you are on vacation something doesn't feel right and when you are sick you are glad that you have a good family to protect you and love you and be happy with you. You should feel happy and loved and comfortable.
I moved during the pandemic and when I was traveling to Canada there were four days where I did not have a place to call home and it felt bad. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we did not have a house to live in, a roof to sleep under and good food to eat. Some people aren't so lucky to have such a nice home.
