Hockey is home to me

Hockey is home to me Written by Noah Humphreys, Jan 19, 2023 I'm leaving a game of hockey with nothing but great memories. Hockey is a rollercoaster of emotions. One team wins and one team loses Hockey is having fun with friends and battling another player. It's teamwork and leadership Hockey can be the best thing and it can suck. But it's the sport I love. I love scoring goals and getting assists. Hockey is being at the top and bottom of the leaderboard. Hockey is hitting someone into the boards and being hit into the boards. Hockey is the moms and dads cheering in the crowd when you're winning or losing. Hockey is skating up and down the ice with the puck. It's killing the other team's power play in a close game. It's tapping your stick before a game. It is working hard on and off the ice. Hockey is being committed to your teammates and the name on your back. Making it big in hockey is going 1000% every time you get on the ice, and when you get off the ice gasping for air. This sport makes everything go away like a bad day at school or if you lose a friend. Hockey has its own emotion to me and a special place in my heart. Hockey is walking into the rink, and hearing the parents talking in the lobby The players playing music in their locker room. Hockey is messing around in the pre-game line. Hockey is the coach giving the locker room a talk to pump them up before they get on the ice. Hockey is getting your skates sharpened when they are dull. Hockey is hanging up your gear after a game. Hockey is going to Tim Hortons at six am on the way to practice. I love getting on the ice for the first time after the summer break The challenge the tryouts give me. I love to score that game-winning goal in a shootout. There are endless possibilities. The nice and caring parents that make you want to go to the rink again. I love skipping school for hockey or leaving early. I care more about hockey than myself and the smile on my face and my teammates when we play. It's why I love the game so much. The end.
