More than wood, bricks and paint

According to the dictionary, the definition of home says “the place where one lives”, but it’s a little more complicated. Home is something you feel, something you love. I believe home is more than wood, bricks, and paint. You can't put a title on a word so powerful. Home is anywhere, home can be school, it can be the movies, for all I know it could be Mcdonalds. Wherever you feel loved, or safe is your home. You may not consider what someone else considers home but they might so don't judge what someone calls home. Home to me is where I live. Most people would say my house it's nothing fancy, and I would agree. But the house isn't my home, its the people in my home that makes it my home. I have a mom, dad, and a brother, which seems pretty ordinary, but to me they are extraordinary. My mom makes me food, she buys me things and does all kinds of other things. Next is my dad, And he does alot of things too. He helps take care of the house, but most of all he makes the best kraft dinner. Last but not least is my little brother. My brother is pretty great, he always makes me laugh, always has a trick up his sleeve, but he also causes a lot of headaches. This is why I love my family so much and that is what my family is to me. I’ve got really close friends who I could call family. First is Von, Von is a close friend from football. One night the power was out on Von's street, so he came over to my house and we ate a lot of pizza and had a great time. He feels like family because I know he is always going to be a great person to hang around with. It doesn't matter what we're doing, he will always make it fun. Next is Noah. He moved here three summers ago. We instantly became friends. Noah and I have had a couple sleepovers. Over the summer, it seemed like every second day Noah and I would hang out. Just because they aren't related to you, it doesn't mean you can't think of them as family. Outside of friends and family I have my football team. It is such a great community of people. I started playing football when I was seven years old and I instantly became attached to it. This year I went to peewee and that was pretty hard because I was competing with thirteen, and twelve year olds. But I never felt left out when I was with my team. The team always includes everyone. This is why my team feels like a family to me. In conclusion, while a space where you are safe is important, it is perhaps even more important to be surrounded by people who make you feel safe. Everyone should experience what a home is. Home is the greatest and most magical place of all.
