Meaning of Home

What reminds me of home is the smell of red velvet cake with a cherry on the top. Me and my family LOVE red velvet cake! Me and my mom would always bake red velvet cake on special holidays, Even for my mom’s friends. Like, Christmas, Halloween (ghost red velvet cake) and Valentine's day! While baking, me and my mom always get a little bit chaotic. Sometimes my mom decides to prank me with FLOUR. Yes, flour, which my mom throws at me and the batter gets EVERYWHERE. We laugh after but I always get a little payback. That time was very CHAOTIC. But my home isn't a HOME if there wasn’t any chaos. Home is where you feel safe and comfortable like being snuggled up in a blanket, watching movies while eating popcorn. My family has a movie night every Friday. Me and my family started having movie nights 6 years ago, when I moved to Canada. Canada is also my home. I spent most of my life here in Canada, even though I wasn’t born here. I was born in the Philippines, and I still say that the Philippines is my home too. In the Philippines, the food there is SOOOOOOOOOOOO YUMMYYYYY. One of my favorite foods is called lumpia. I can't LIVE without lumpia. Lumpia is a traditional dish in the Philippines. In the Philippines there is a restaurant called Jollibee. The food there is delicious! In Kelowna there is sadly no jollibee. But it's okay. My home is made out of memories, and it is hard to leave those memories behind. Especially happy memories, exciting memories and sad memories. When I moved to Canada I was sad because I was leaving those memories behind in the Philippines. However, I realized that I can make memories in any house to make it a permanent home for me. At home I want to feel safe, comfortable, loved and have privacy. When these things happen, it feels like home.
