What home means to me

To me a house is just a building made with lots of materials, but a home is a place where family is and a place full of love, laughter, and memories. Even though in my home my family and I sometimes get into fights or have a disagreement, we still love each other and since we are so close that we can help each other out. I love how my mom always has a candle lit so that whenever I see or smell a candle, I immediately think of her and all the love, kindness, and peace that she brings to our home. My dad brings lots of love into our home, he is always so nice and funny. My home is a place where we can all be ourselves. Every night when we get home from school, sports, and other activities we always get a chance to say how our day was, say something funny that happened at school, and just random stories. This is our family time to spend all together and have lots of fun and laughter. In my family’s home we try to be as open as possible, so when one of us is struggling we try to do things together, listen to each other and we never ever judge each other. My mom and dad work hard to be able to get us to our sports on time, to make sure we are all happy and doing okay and to make sure they still have time for themselves so if I ever see that my home is even just a little bit messy, I always try to clean up. I don’t think my parents should have to clean up everything, so my brother and I always try to help, except for the toilets. To me my community is a safe place, it is where I can also be myself, it’s a place where if I needed help, I would be comfortable asking anyone in my community. My community is like a home. I am in my community every day – when I am at school, in my home and in my town. All the people are so nice in our community. Every time anyone walks into their home, they always feel something or have something that makes them happy, like a pet or just the feeling of love. To me it is both, but my puppy is always there to greet me, and I can tell how much she loves seeing me. Nothing else makes me feel more loved than walking into my home and seeing her. This is what home means to me.
