The Magic of Home
To have a home is a very special thing. Some people think the word home just means to have a house that you live in, but for me, home means so many other beautiful and magical things.
Home means a place where you and your family can grow, make memories, and feel unconditional love. Home is light, warmth and laughter. You can feel safe and happy at home, and not be judged. You can let your feelings out, get encouragement on whatever you are working on, laugh, cry and everything in between. For me, home isn’t just a place. Every time I feel at home my heart flutters with hope and faith. Through times of hardship, I draw my home near for comfort and support.
A house is not a home. It is just a building that holds things like furniture and rooms. It’s a structure that keeps wind and rain out, and heat in. A house is necessary for everyone because we need shelter. But no matter what type of a house, it's still not a home. The closest a house can get to being a home is by carrying it.
There are many differences between a home and a house. A house is just a structure, while a home is a feeling you get when with loved ones, inside or outside of a house. For example, when I’m in my camper with my family, I’m at home. A house isn’t like that, unless it carries “the home”.
I am very lucky to have a home, and I hope you are too. Everyone deserves a safe house to call home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for helping people get houses to live in, which they can turn into homes by making memories, surrounded by the magic of home.
