The True Meaning of Home
To me a home can be more than just one structure. Home can be a city that you weren’t born in, but you care for a lot and have lots of happiness in.
My parents are not divorced, so I don’t live in two houses. Besides the house that I live in, my school feels like my home as well. Even though my school has no bedrooms or family rooms like your regular house or home, my friends are there, and they make me feel at home and peaceful.
My Mema’s house is also like my home. Since childhood when I was a baby I’ve always considered her house home. Even though my Mema and my parents used to live on the other side of London, my sister and I have had our own bedroom in both of my Mema’s houses. I truly feel at home here.
But when you think really hard about it you’ll find that you feel the entire city, province or country you live in feels like your home. You could have been born in China then moved to another part of the world like my Dad. He was born in Portugal and moved to Canada when he was two and calls Canada his home.
The true meaning of home is somewhere where you feel safe, peaceful, free and loved. Everyone who has a good home should be thankful that they have somewhere where they can be themselves.
