Meaning of Home
Last year, my mom told me that we would be moving to Toronto. We were moving because it would be a happier place for us. I was quite excited because I have never lived in a big city before. It was going to be exciting.
When I found out we were moving, I was excited to be moving to a big city like Toronto. We were going to be living in a busier area and with lots of buildings around us. We would be living in an apartment building with a balcony. And at night time, I could look at the lights. I would miss our old house a little bit, but I could not wait.
The first step was deciding what I wanted to bring with me. I have a lot of toys and games that I could not bring so I had to decide what I needed. The most important things to me were my tablet, phone and my Nintendo Switch. My mom packed our clothes and everything else we needed.
On the day we were moving, my aunts and cousin drove all the way to Sarnia. They took 3 hours just to get there. They packed everything into the back of the truck and strapped it down so it wouldn't fall out. But our pillows somehow flew out of the truck while we were driving! Then we got lost and had to stop to fix the straps holding our things down. After we had lunch in London, we finally found the way to Toronto. At first it felt strange because I didn’t really know my aunts or cousin and it was far away, but I was with my mom and my brother and my dog, so it was okay.
After a long long drive, we got to my grandparents apartment in Toronto. I felt a little sad because it was a new place and I didn’t know what was going to happen. But I was with my mom and my brother and my dog, and my grandparents, so I knew that everything was going to be okay. I was in my new home.
It has been 6 months since we moved to Toronto and I am getting used to it. I don’t like sharing a room with my brother but I hope that one day, we can get an apartment of our own with 2 bedrooms. I am happy we made the move.
