Home
What does home mean to you? It seems to be a simple question, according to dictionary.com “home is the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household”. However, I partially disagree, I agree that home is where you and your family live, but I think that home should be regarded as a feeling, because to me, home means family, laughs, fun and somehow calming. First of all, home means family, because it’s where your family stays (home is warm and a place to sleep, AKA the definition that is shared in one of the first sentences). Secondly, at home I always hear laughs from my parents or siblings, this is partially because my household is full of jesters. Thirdly, home is always a place to have fun, if it’s my brother playing games on the tv or my dad telling jokes, it’s always fun. Finally, home is calming, surprisingly I feel calm at home. My parents reassure me whenever I’m worried and my siblings always make me laugh. Another separate point about dictionary.com saying that “home is the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household” and the definition of a house is “a building for human habitation, especially one that is lived in by a family or small group of people”, they are extremely similar, but after typing this paragraph my feelings have changed and I think that the definition of home should be modified. In conclusion home means family, this paragraph was thought provoking for me, the writer, and it has changed my opinion on what home means.
