The meaning of home

Home is not the same as a house, it means more. It means joy and laughter, it means the memories and the times you have spent together. My home is different from your home. Your home could be a home of traditions and birthdays on different dates compared to everyone else. It could be the first home you knew. In the case of families that struggle more than others it is the important times with people you love and care about that matters and that you are happy and you feel safe in your place. I feel that my home is where I belong, where my family belongs and nobody can take that away from me and I know that as a fact. The meaning of home for me means comfort, my childhood and why home is not the same as house. Comfort is a big part of my home. If that was not a part of me, of my home, my family, it would not be the same. It would be a different house. A different story. When I am at home I feel relaxed and I have a chance to lay down in my bed or go to my dog and hug him after a long day of school. I do not think I would be the same person if I did not have comfort as a little girl. When I was younger we had a lazy boy rocking chair, and every day while I was a little baby one of my parents would rock me to sleep or just love me, even just for those 25 minutes of sitting there it made a difference. It made joy. My childhood is special. It is when I learned to play hockey and met my friends. It is how I learned to bake cookies with my mum and how I learned to do garage work with my dad. Home is not a place, it is a feeling and I felt that as a child. Now that I am older I realize more about my home. It means way more than what I thought. It is where I learned how to take my very first steps or where I learned to say my first words. I grew up in my house but it became my home. House means a roof on your head, it means maybe walls around you, but home means way more, and it is not the same for everyone. Yeah, maybe you write the word the same or you hear the word the same but you do not feel the same. Your new house could be your house but your old house could feel more like home. It all depends on what you feel, not what others think. A house is built with structure, it is built with cranes but a home may be built with love and care and joy and memories. You have to build up those certain things to be able to call your house a home. I have now stated what my home means to me, not what my house means, my home where I feel comfort, my childhood and why house is not the same as home. I know you do not feel the same way as me but just know every home is different and I truly feel my home is so special and full of its own things and differences. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I know your home is very special as well.
