Meaning of Home

What is a home? Most people misunderstand this question. When this question is asked, people often say that their house is their home. Though in reality, a home is much more than that. A home is where you feel safe and free, while a house is where you sleep and live. A home does not always have to be a place. It can be anything. For example, your home can be with your family, friends, your loved ones, and your pets. Your home can be an object too (ex. Books, drawings etc.). A home is where you should feel safe and happy, and not worry about what’s going to happen to you. It’s where you feel like you belong, and feel free to be who you are. Though not everyone has that privilege of a home. Many people don’t feel safe where they live, because there may be a war going on, or some issues in their family. Home doesn’t always have to be somewhere, it can be with someone too. Obviously everyone gets bored in their life when they are alone, but when you're with your loved ones, you're never alone. My family supports me, cares about me. They love me. So I support them back, care about them and love them. My family is the main reason I’m happy and healthy. Home is where one collects memories. At my home, I have pictures of me and my sister as children. When we look at them, we think about all the happy moments of the past. Everyone may not have photos and pictures, but all that matters is that they have memories. Home should be a feeling of comfort, safety and sense of belonging. One should feel safe and secure in good times and bad times. Building a house is nothing compared to a home. A house is a building, but a home can be anything. Everyone deserves a home where their heart chooses.
