A Safe Home

A safe home to me means family, neighbors, friends, animals, memories, and my indigenous culture. This will ensure that my spirit will stay strong. First is FAMILY, because they are here for me 24/7 whenever I need help. They are here for me If I feel like I cannot accomplish a task, and they are here to have my back. Even though, me and my sister’s fight they still help me out. We also have fun times playing games. Also, in a safe home, it’s great to have friends and neighbor’s that will help you out. If you run out of gas for your car, they can take you to the gas station. My friends and neighbors are here for me when I want to just have fun. Next, I need animals because they comfort me when I need them, they are playful, and they can make you happy, also you can cuddle with them when you need them. Finally, my indigenous culture is important to all my family members. My grandparents went to a residential school when they were children and they learned English and they were forced to lose their language, but I still try and learn my own language. I am involved in my community through Canam Indian Friendship Center. It brings other First Nations people together to keep our culture alive. Finally, I need memories because we can look back on those memories which made us laugh, giggle, but sometimes they could make us cry. If a family member passes away you will cry, that is why you have a family to count on. That is what makes a safe home for me because it helps me to fill my spirit with love and safety.
