House Versus Home

Hi, my name is Mia. I am here to tell you what home means to me. Enjoy! My parents are divorced and I have had to move six times in my life which means I have been fortunate enough to have six houses. Some were better than others but it didn’t matter because I had a roof over my head and a bed to sleep on. What I have realized is that home to me is a building with walls, a roof, and a bed to sleep on but it is more than that, let me explain. My parents don’t live together so at my mom’s I have my stepdad, my mom, my two dogs and my sister and I live there part-time. At my dad’s I have my stepmom, my dad, my dog and my sister and I live there part-time. That is what home is to me, your family, the people you are with. Sure a house has walls and a roof but a home is where your family is. In my opinion the people you are with are the most important so even though my parents being divorced isn’t ideal compared to what some people go through it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It really puts things in perspective for me so I am glad I got to participate in this writing assignment. It was fun and it definitely helped me and I hope it can help other people too so they can have a house and I hope they have a home too. -Mia. R
