Meaning of home

Different words mean different things to human beings. Human nature causes one to connect certain words with positive feelings whereas other words with negative feelings. The term ‘home’ typically brings out positive feelings. When this term is mentioned, it is simply defined as a place where one resides. However, home is so much more than that. It would be crazy to define such a word as simply four walls with a roof. Different people define home in different ways. Home may be a feeling, a person, an object, or a place. Homes may change over time, resulting in the associated feeling with the term to change as well. Personally, to me, home is anywhere, anything, and anyone that I feel peaceful with. For one thing, to me, home is my house, the place I most feel at peace in. This has to do with the fact that I have the things I love with me. They comfort me and make me feel safe. My house is where my favorite things are from my books to my family. My house is where I look forward to going to everyday. It’s where I feel most comfortable. My house is where I love to be. My house is where I’ve made so many memories. It’s my favorite place and I will always choose going home more than any other place in the world. Moreover, home to me is books. I feel at peace when I read books. It reduces stress and it makes me feel safe. My books represent who I am. The thought of not having books scares me. Books help me escape and feel free. I open a book and the whole world melts away, I can basically travel the world, go to the past or future, I can be a dinosaur, princess and anything else I want. Everytime I’m upset, I read a book because it makes me feel happy. A book means escape, love, knowledge, imagination and beauty. Furthermore, my mom is my home. My mom has always supported me and advised me. She comforts me and makes me feel safe, she’s been there for me at my lowest. She’s raised me to be who I am. My mom truly means home to me. She's not only the most amazing parent but she’s also my best friend. I can talk to her about anything and she will always be there for me. She inspires me to better myself. No matter what I do to disappoint her, she will always forgive me because my happiness and safety is all that matters to her. She has always been there for my siblings and I. It’s amazing knowing that someone will always love me. Even the closest friendships sometimes fall apart but I know my mom will always love me till the end.
