Meaning of Home
Home is not just a house or a shelter, it’s a part of me. Home is an adventure with your family by your side. Home is the journey, the happiness along the way and the memories that are made.
Home is family, with my mom Nicole, dad Jeff and dog Mickey. My mom and dad are always there when I need them if something sad happens or even if it is just homework. My dog is so adorable and hilarious. He is a golden retriever and even if he is just a dog he is the one I can always trust. He is my brother, he is my best friend. Home is family.
Home is happiness. It is all the fun things me and my family do together. I feel happiness in every single laugh, every smile, every kiss and every hug, every facetime call when one of us is away and even just a message on the phone saying “I love you” is happiness.
Home is memories. It is every trip we have ever been on, every movie night, all the times when we used to go to the cottage and every weekend spent together. It is every single moment, the good and the bad. Remembering and thinking about all these memories makes me feel at home.
Knowing that not everyone feels this way, I hope by writing this essay, Habitat for Humanity can help more families create their own sense of home, knowing that they are safe and loved.
