Meaning of Home
Home for me is the feeling when I walk in my house. It's where my family and friends are. Where I have freedom, fun and where there is silliness.
For me, when I think of home I think of my family and friends. It’s when I walk in the door and my dog, spinning in circles, jumps on me and licks my hands; hugs with my dad and family walks. It’s in our memories together, ski trips, roasting s'mores over the fire as the sun sets on the lake, hikes and adventures. Home is sleepovers with friends, playing video games, watching silly movies and doing terrible karaoke without a care. When we are together, I am home.
When I am home I have so much fun, free to be myself. There, I can do things for no reason, mess around limitlessly.. When I think of home I think of family game nights, playing one of our board games or watching movies. I think of camping trips, paddling over the lake, adventuring the camp site and telling funny stories around the glowing fire. Home can be anywhere if there is fun.
For me, a home needs silliness, things that make us happier on sad days. We need things like terrible dad jokes, pranks and making a mess for no reason except to have fun and mess around. We need the silliness of our dog trying to dig a hole through the bed, burying his bone, and himself in blankets, a goofy smile on his face. Every last silly moment makes my house a home.
Even though having a house to call home is lucky, not everyone does. Habitat for Humanity is helping provide houses so that people can find home.
