I Am From

I am from pointy forks and sharp knives we use for dinner. From upright cabinets I like to hide in, and the insane decorations in every corner. I am from the blue walls, and the beige bricks that make up my home. I am from the spider plants to the elephant plants that my mom insists on keeping. I am from the big birthdays and huge celebrations from getting together with family on holidays. From going swimming in the cool water on sizzling summer days. From my sisters, parents and my entire family that I would do anything for. I am from the “No’s”, and “I’m not your entertainer” and all the songs about love my dad would sing to me when I was young. I am from Saturday morning clean up’s that can last up to all day. From the biggest city in Manitoba, and a city that barely made it as one. From Germany, France, Spain, and Japan. From the piles of pizza, we would have almost every Friday night. From when my dad creates fun video games. From the game about abducting horses, he created to the love of his newfound job. From my head, my heart, my gut, and my home where I cleaned, played and fought till I moved. From a family that misses pieces but somehow put the puzzle together without them.
