I Am From
I am from Dawn branded and lemon scented dish soap.
From the mahogany and star speckled blankets resting on my cream-colored couch, to the grey cat tower occupying the middle of my living room.
I am from the unfinished exterior of my house and the echo of my cat anticipating my arrival behind my bedroom door.
I am from the many plants my feline friend sneakily chewed up in record time and the now deceased small bamboo plant which once dwelled in my parents’ room that was a present from my late grandma.
I am from meringues every Christmas and the artistic spark blazing throughout my family.
I am from, “Cassandra!” and, “Mahal kita,” both with very opposite implications.
I am from happily celebrating my mom and dad’s anniversary every January with all sorts of delicacies, and assortments of (corny) Facebook posts.
I am from St. Boniface hospital and the tropical archipelago of the Philippines.
From back when my dad asked a blind lady in the Philippines for directions (Spoiler he did not get any)
From photo albums of all shades and colours of the rainbow overflowing with memoirs from all corners of the world.
Though in my entire lifetime I think I could fill a whole entire library full of souvenirs from past experiences in my minuscule human lifespan.
