Home is More Than Just a House
Home is more than just a house. A house is a shelter, a building you live inside. There are many kinds of houses. Townhouses, condos, or apartments. You can decorate a house with gnomes on the front lawn or a wind chime that jingles with a soft breeze, even a garage door painted neon, but homes are much different.
A home is not built like a house. Houses are built with materials you see at the hardware store. Cement, drywall, paint. Homes are built with love, love is like cement, the foundation of your home, every home needs a foundation. Home is built with the feeling of safety and acceptance, safety and acceptance are like drywall, covering your foundation with a layer of warmth and comfort. Homes are built with colour, colour is like paint, it covers the drywall and makes your home beautiful and unique.
Home doesn’t look like a house. Home looks like smiling faces, everyone happy and filled with joy, playing games and having lively chats together. Home looks like warm hugs, everyone is comforted. Home looks like laughing mouths, everyone enjoying a good joke or doing silly things.
Home does not feel like a house. Home feels like trust, everyone can be trusted, and nothing is kept from each other. Home feels like safety, everyone is comfortable and never afraid. Home feels like acceptance, everyone loves you for who you are and you feel like you belong.
A home is much more than a house, and everyone deserves one. Everyone deserves a little bit of love, acceptance and safety and colour in their lives. Everyone deserves a shelter, a place to stay and feel warm. And people with a home should be grateful for how much they are loved.
