Without a Roof

To me a home is somewhere you feel safe, warm, and cared for. But what happens when someone doesn't have any of these frequent comforts that many of us take for granted in their day to day lives? The luxuries of clean clothes, smiling faces to wake up to, and full stomachs when you go to bed. . . sadly a lot of people don't get all of these privileges. Families can be evicted from their much-loved homes for a multitude of reasons; they could lose that warm, comforting place that many people look forward to going to after a tiring day. Kids can go to school without eating breakfast or not have enough money for their lunch. Kids and adults in these environments share their experience in struggling with mental, physical, and social well-being. The loss of a job, money problems and eviction can be very stressful. These are all hard truths that must be faced and resolved. Homelessness and poverty are prominent all around the world; especially in war ridden countries and bigger cities and countries. A home to me is like a centre. A place to come to at the end of the day. It is being with the ones you love the most. Sitting around the dinner table, watching the TV, or just being alone with the comfort and safety that comes with a home. Everyone deserves that sense of security. A home can change a person's life in many ways as you can see. This is why Habitat for Humanity is so vital to so many people around the world. Thank you.
