The Feeling of Home
People say that home is where the heart is. As cheesy as that expression is, it’s very true.
To me, a home isn’t a building that you live in, it’s not a place with a couch and a kitchen, it’s way more than that. A home is a feeling. A home isn’t the same for everyone, it’s not a structure made of brick and wood and paint. To me, a home is what you make it.
When people hear of a home, they think of a house. This isn't always the case. Though, it is true that a house can be your home, some people don’t feel that their house is their home. They may feel unsafe in their home or not even have a house but still find their home in other things.
I think it’s fitting to explain the importance of the feeling of home. You can live somewhere for years and not have the feeling of home. In my opinion, home is a sense of belonging, it can be gradual, or it can hit you all at once: “This is my home. This is where I belong.” I find the feeling of home very comforting and it really hurts to know that some people haven’t found their home, some people might never find their home.
Home is what you make it so this is truly only my opinion, other people may view it in a completely different perspective than I am, however I do wonder: Is a home really your home if you're unhappy? There is a specific feeling of home. The feeling of home is comfort. A home is bigger than a house. The world is your home if you feel you belong there. To me, this is the true feeling of home.
