Meaning of Home

Home to me means the sounds and smells that hit you when you walk in the house. Like my brother jumping around and playing with his loud toys. You know it’s a good day when you walk in the house and smell African food being cooked, that means my stepdad is coming home and it's probably going to be one of the best days ever. Whenever me and my mom and brother get to see my stepdad, we are so happy because we don’t get to see him that often. The reason we are always so happy when he comes home is because he works outside of the province in the oil and gas industry. He does this to provide more opportunities for me and my brother. When he comes home, we play Hide and Seek, and we go to parties, and we play outside when he Home also means a safe place. It is a place where I feel safe and a place to sleep. I know that my mom and stepdad will love and protect me. I always feel safe when I am with my mom. I also have 3 dogs that are part of my family, two girls and one boy, they are so cute. They can also be annoying and as soon as they smell food, they all run to the kitchen because it always smells so good. My mom makes some of the best dishes. All of these sounds, smells and sights are what makes a home to me.
