Home

Home. Home is many things to many different people. Home can be a place where your family lives, you have friends, or a place where you feel loved and safe. However, I am not going to tell you what home means to other people, I am going to tell you what home means to me. Home is a place where I feel safe, loved, happy and free to be myself. Home doesn't have to be where your family lives, it can be a place you love. To me, home should be a place where when you walk in the front door you want to be there. I have lived in many houses in my life, five to be exact. The word house has a very different meaning than the word home. A house is a place where people live but a home is a place where you feel good inside when you are there. The place where I felt most at home was in Saskatoon. We moved to Saskatoon when I was three years old and lived there for seven years. We had the best street and everyone was so friendly and thoughtful. I had friends just down the block and when I was bored I could ask my mom to text their moms to see if they were home and then I would bike over if they were. My school was close to my house so it only took me five minutes to walk there. But then we had to move. I had to say goodbye to everyone, and all of my friends. One of the things that makes home home is family. Family is very important to me because they love me, they provide me with food and shelter and they make me feel happy when I am sad. Family is something that I could not live without. My mom always helps me with my homework when I am stuck and talks with me when I'm sad. My dad always makes me laugh when I don't feel like laughing. My siblings always play with me. Although my family might not be perfect they are pretty great. At home I feel loved and safe. I know that some people don't feel safe or loved at home, and that makes me sad for them because I do. I feel safe at home because my parents don't yell at me or hurt me. They talk calmly and they try to understand me. I Feel loved because my family is kind to me and would do anything for me. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful home.
