Where My Heart Belongs
Home is where I am happy to spend most of my life, having fun with my mom, feeling safe and loved, growing and becoming who I am; thinking, reading, playing and being myself.
When I come home I feel relieved and relaxed to be back in my own space. In fact, my mom and I joke and sing, “home again, home again, jiggety jig,” as soon as we enter our home. It is from an old nursery rhyme. There is no other place I have visited that I get this feeling when I walk through the front door. It is my comfort zone where I heal and recover from the troubles of a bad or stressful day at school.
At home I feel protected from the scariness of the world and the harshness of weather. I am very thankful to have this warm place to stay during cold winter storms.
Home also has my family who love, support and care for me. I can speak honestly about anything with my mom. We have the most fun at our epic and intense board games and card games competitions!
At home I express myself freely in my personal space where my favorite books, games, and all the things I like are. This space represents who I am with my posters on the wall and sticky notes above my desk, where my piano is and my favorite stuffed Pikachu! I spend time here drawing, coloring, and making new additions to my art creations collection.
Home is where I am and who I am, from the floor that I grazed my knee on and the walls I scribbled on, to the door that my mom recorded my heights on and to where my heart feels I belong.
