Meaning of Home
Home, to me, is not a place. It's a feeling. It’s the feeling of love from your family, and all the memories we make together. Home is the best feeling in the world and it makes me sad to think some people don’t get the opportunity to create their own sense of home.
Love is warmth that wraps you in a blanket and keeps you safe. It’s being with my family, helping my mom make dinner, my dad teaching me how to make his famous chocolate chip cookies, and my sister tackle-hugging me so hard I fall on the floor. Love is the thing that keeps me safe, no matter what.
Family is the people I look forward to seeing every day at my house and at school. Family isn't just your birth family, it is also your friends who are with you through the easy and the hard, the good times and the bad, the fun and the difficult. Family can be anyone, you just have to find the right people.
Memories are all the fun, amazing things I have done with my family, friends, and by myself. It is remembering every trip, every hug, every time my parents and my sister say “I love you” and it fills me with warmth. Memories help me remember and remembering is important.
When I first heard we were writing to Habitat for Humanity, I was so happy to be able to be a part of helping people find their own meaning of home.
