What Home Means to Me

A home is a place where you feel safe and protected. A place where you feel loved and free. A home will shelter you from the rain and keep you warm at night. When I think of home, I think of the smell of supper cooking. The smell of fresh laundry. The sound of my dog barking when he sees someone walking across the road, and my cat meowing for food or scratching on my door at night. Even my brother and sister arguing makes it feel more like home. Home should be your safe place to talk about things. A place to feel loved and needed. But sadly, not everyone is so fortunate. Some people don’t feel like that in their houses. Some people don’t even have homes to shelter in. That’s why it’s so important to make people feel like they belong. That’s what a home is; A place where you feel like you belong. Even though where you live will change as you grow older, if you feel safe, loved, and comfortable… That is your home.
