Meaning of Home
Home is a word that holds a powerful meaning. It’s also a place we grew up in and learnt our first lessons on how to behave. It can mean different things to everyone, even if you don’t have a home. That is why Habitat for Humanity is here to help. There are lots of different meanings for home but this is what I think it means. Firstly, home is a personal place. That is why we call our homes “Homes” and not our house. In my home, the pantry is always filled with my favourite snacks and that makes me happy. My family and I make memories in my home like playing board games and baking together. My home being a personal place, I can be myself without feeling embarrassed. I can be excited or sad without anyone else judging me. Secondly, my home is especially unique to me and my family. My mom designed some parts of our house so it feels very “home-ish.” My room is also special to me because I hung up all of the drawings that I was proud of in my room. Even if I ever move, I can bring the “home-ness” with me since I’m still with my family. Lastly, home is somewhere I want to be when I’m not feeling well (being sick or sad). I’m always welcome home no matter when I come home. I feel safe, comfortable and happy at home. I have my parents to comfort me whenever I feel down. It’s also a place filled with love and care and that makes me want to be home. The word home means a lot to me and I hope that my entry will help someone find themselves a home.
