A House Is Not A Home
A House is Not a Home
by Sofia Ross
A house is a place but a home is not a house.
A home is a place with clean water and love.
A house may have mice and cracks in the wall, but if it is a home you will have no doubt about feeling safe in your whereabouts.
A house is where your family and guardians stay, but a home is in a way different place.
A home is where your family is and a place you feel safe and express yourself in your own unique way.
A home is a place where love fills the air, but each home is different and in that there's no doubt.
But some people don’t know what that's all about.
Some don't have a home that will keep them warm and some only have a house filled with abuse and words sworn.
Others have a home and lots of love but the water that fills their cups and tubs has to be boiled and if you're too young you must be scrubbed.
We write these letters here and today so us kids can stand up for what's right in our own special way.
So here I make my stand.
And I hope you will join me hand in hand, to help make the world a better place and lend me a second to learn what you can and remember to be grateful for what you have…
