What Home Means To Me
Home is not just a place with walls, with furniture and a roof. It’s something that you turn into a place that represents you. Home is a place where you should feel comfortable, safe, and most importantly, loved. Home is a place where you age and change, and it's a place that should feel magical, or where someone makes you feel magical. For me, my mom makes home feel magical. She's a nurse at T.D.A, working double nights and when she comes home in the morning, she's always tired. No matter what, she still comes home and makes us food to bring for lunch and drops us off at school. My mom is my idol because she works so hard and is very independent and someday, I hope I could be as strong, brave, and independent as her.
There's so much more to a home than people think. Over 5% of the world, which means 150 million people don't have a home and are living on the streets. Some look happy, some look sad. Why, you may ask? Well, the happy ones are happy because of the people that walk past them every day and offer them a smile, their leftovers or even money. Others look sad because sometimes they have things thrown at them or are called names by others. Sometimes, people assume things that may not be true. A home isn’t just a house, a home can and could be anywhere. A community can also be a home because it's where you see people you know, who are friendly and put a smile on your face. Home is where you are welcomed into each other’s houses and have a cup of coffee in the mornings, or tea, and if you have kids they can come and see their friends. Even if someone doesn’t have a home just seeing people show kindness is very sweet and their actions will always come back to them whether they’re good or bad. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly in their community or home no matter their race or upbringing.
