What Home Means to Me

Some people think that a home and a house are the same thing. But they are wrong. A house is a structure that people can live in, but still not everyone has a house. A home is a place of life and joy. It doesn't have to be a building. It can be a place where your family is or where your heart is. A home is different for different people. No one's home is the same as each other's. Home means to me that there is a place where you can decide what you want to do or who you want to be. You can have your own rights, your own thoughts and even your own space. It's a place where you belong and it is a place where you want to be. My home would be where my family and my dog, Lucy, are. My family is important to me because they are kind, nice and caring. They can be mean or rude sometimes, but I know somewhere inside they love me just as much as I love them. My dog Lucy is important to me because when something is wrong I go to her and pet and play with her and being with her makes me feel better. Lucy is an amazing dog. I love my home which is why it is hard to think about the people who don't have one. I entered this contest not to win, not to lose, but to try my best. By entering I automatically helped someone get closer to getting a home. If I win I will be able to give a family a home that is accessible to them. That’s what home means to me and why I entered this contest.
