The Meaning of Home to Me Throughout The Seasons
When I think about what home means to me, I think about how my home changes over the seasons and how my memories and feelings also change with these seasons. I feel lucky to live in Canada where we have four seasons to enjoy and experience our homes in so many different ways. I would like to share the meaning of my home to you and why it is such a special place to me in the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
In the Winter, my home is always cozy and warm like I am in a blanket of fur. When it is bright in the morning, I am super happy to see all the snow falling outside and I rush out to the front yard and play on the snow banks with my brother. Whenever I come inside from the cold, I am greeted with the safe and warm feeling of my house. I always have toasty nights relaxing and playing games by the fireplace. When I eat my dad's homemade soup it warms my insides. It's awesome when I look at my lighted up Christmas tree and my colorful house. It is so fun when my family and I have those amazing and warm movie nights, it is like we are at the movie theater. When I am super tired I jump into my silky warm flannel sheets and go to sleep. These are some of the things that my home means to me during the Winter.
In the Spring my home is filled with fresh air from outside like I am breathing heaven in. Every morning when I wake up, I always hear the sweet sound of birds chirping. After a long winter, I open the windows of my house to let the fresh air rush in. In my yard, I always see plants and trees sprouting buds and they are always getting bigger and bigger every day. When it is Easter, I love being a detective and finding eggs hiding all over my home and eating lots of them. In the month of May,I look forward to my mom's birthday party and thinking about sinking my teeth into the yummy chocolate cake which tastes like a giant chocolate bar. In June, a few days before Spring ends, it is my birthday and I am so excited to celebrate with my family. These are some of the things that my home means to me during the Spring.
In the Summer my home is always the perfect temperature and cools me down like I am in a pool. When I come inside from playing, the cool air conditioning in my house cools me down from the piping hot heat outside. What also really cools me down is when I jump in the cold sprinkler in the backyard with my brother. I love to drink the cold refreshing water from my tap, it cures my mouth from feeling like a desert. Outside, I always smell the fresh cut grass and sunscreen on my skin and I love those smells. After a sweaty game of basketball or a bike ride, I enjoy having big bites of cold Italian lemon ice on my porch. In the summer ,it is fun to help my mom and dad with planting new plants and watering the gardens. In the evening, my family and I sometimes have a giant BBQ and play badminton in my backyard. These are some of the things that my home means to me during the Summer.
In the Fall, my home smells really good like fresh baked cookies and apple sauce. When I am at school, I look forward to coming home and having a big homemade chocolate chip cookie. It is so peaceful when I come outside and I see the different colored leaves falling and blowing in the wind around my house. When it is October, I am so excited for thanksgiving and the day it comes I love smelling all the food and having dinner with my family in my home. When there are enough fallen leaves, I go into my backyard and rake up all the leaves which would probably take around 1 and a quarter days and take a big jump in it. When it is November, it is time to celebrate my dad’s birthday and he loves pie and carrot cake. In December, just before the end of Fall, it is my brother’s birthday and we celebrate together on our couch watching Star Wars movies and eating red velvet cake.
I hope that you have enjoyed a look into what my home means to me as the seasons change. It was so much fun for me to write about this topic because it made me appreciate how lucky I am to have such a wonderful home to make all of these memories. In so many ways my home has made me the person that I am today and I can’t wait to add so much more to the meaning of my home as the seasons continue to change and the years go by.
