The Meaning of Home

A home is not just a building. It's a place where people live, laugh, and love. It has pictures of the people that live in it. It doesn’t just have people and pets in it. It has families in it. A home is a place where families have good times and bad times but mostly good times. One thing that makes a home a home is the sounds that you hear in it. Like the sound of floors creaking when you step on them. Like this one floor in my home in the mud room that makes a distinctive creaking sound when it gets stepped on. Or in our living room where there is another board that creaks sometimes when you step on it. Or the sound of my dogs barking happily when I come home from school. And doors opening and closing. These are the sounds of home. Another thing that makes a home is pets. I love my dogs, their names are Poppy, Masha, and Jack. They are always barking at the front door when someone comes to our home. My home also has a lot of cats because my mom is a crazy cat lady but I love them because they love to cuddle and get petted. Then there are lizards that we don’t really pet or cuddle but they still just remind me that I'm home. The last thing that makes a home is family. They are always there for me when I am sad. I love my mom and dad because they are always able to provide me with the things that I need. I also love my sisters but they can get annoying sometimes. And that is why family makes me feel like I'm home. I feel that all these things make a home because they are all in my home and I don't think that my home would be much of a home without them.
