What Home Means To Me

What does home mean to me? Well, I could say that my house is a big building built with chocolate brown bricks and a pointy roof. I could say that our garage isn’t big enough for two cars, so my dad has to park outside. I could say that our backyard has a big hill that is perfect for tobogganing every winter. I could describe my house in so many different ways, but in the end, I still won’t be able to answer your question. Home isn’t a place, but a feeling. Home means safety, home means acceptance, but most of all, home means love. Home is when you put your differences aside just to love and care about someone. There are going to be good memories, bad memories, and memories you’ll surely forget. You smile, and you laugh, but you also cry, and fight. You may have to make sacrifices and difficult decisions, but you know that your loved ones will support you and love you unconditionally. Home is where you can be one hundred percent you. I feel at home when I am with my family, because they treat me with respect, and kindness. Home means having traditions, and making new traditions. Traditions like eating pancakes on the first day of school each year, or getting a bear hug every time I see my aunt. Traditions make memories, memories we will laugh at in the future. To answer your question, home is a warm feeling inside that makes me feel happy and loved. Home is where I feel the most like myself. Home is where I am truly and utterly me. Home is where I belong.
