A Pandemic Home
The house we live in will always be a place I call home. It’s a place to feel welcomed and to be loved. I can go home to feel safe, and I can spend my time at home without feeling uncomfortable.
The pandemic has changed our lives in so many ways. It has altered standards and normality. The pandemic has shifted my education. The pandemic has also changed lots of things in my home.
Home isn’t just a place to eat and sleep, it’s also become my school and my parent’s office. Our backyard is now our schoolyard, and my bed is like my desk. Our basement is now a mini soccer arena for my brother and I.
There are different things in our house. Home is filled with math books, science kits, puzzles and board games to keep us occupied. Home has more cleaning products and more masks.
The pandemic has also changed my thoughts about home. I used to think of home as a place to have a snack after school, but now it’s a place to rip off my mask. Before the pandemic, home used to be a place to hug my pet when I came home, but now it’s a place to run to the sink to wash my hands.
Home still feels the same in some ways. The pandemic hasn’t changed a lot of feelings. Home is still a place where I feel comfy and safe. Home is still a place where I can be happy. Home is still a place to play. Home is where I can be with my family. Our house is still a place that I can call home.
