The Meaning of Home

A home is more than a four letter word. It is a place where you feel good, safe, secure and comfortable. A house is built with construction materials but a home is built with a family and loved ones. It is a place where you grow and build memories. A home is a place where you collect and store all your belongings. There is a difference between a house and a home, a house only provides a roof to live under. But a home is a foundation where we learn and grow. A home has a special bonding with you. People who live away from home complain of being homesick as they miss the warmth and comfort of a home. No matter where you travel you look forward to coming back home. You buy a house but you build a home. You often see people selling houses but never homes. Expressions like home sweet home and home is where the heart is, are true and nothing can substitute them. In summer my family and I enjoy doing different activities in the backyard like bbqs. My family and I love to invite friends over. In the winter we love drinking hot chocolate by the fireplace and roasting marshmallows to make s’mores. We share laughs, smiles and sorrows but we always stay together. I hope this describes why we appreciate our homes. Now I will quickly summarize what I have written. A home is a place where we grow together.
