The Meaning of Home

When we think of “home,” we think of a house, a physical building. However, to me, home is not a place but it is a feeling. Home is a sense of safety, where you keep your memories, and where your friends and family live. Home is a feeling, a feeling of safety and security when I have a place that is safe to go home to and a place where I am not worried. A library I study at that makes me feel at peace can be where I feel at home, maybe a beautiful garden I go to in order to calm down. Even my friend's house, which is a place I might see everyday can be where I feel at home because I feel safe there. A home has memories and just looking back on my memories can make me feel that warm feeling when you're at home when you are not. For my whole life I have memories of home and I will keep them and I will cherish them forever. There can be happy memories but some can be sad but they are part of my past, my home has all memories not just the happy ones. My memories are precious and they are important to me because my past is part of my personality. A big part of my home is family and friends, a home should have the people I love. My home is where I am loved and comforted when I am sad and the people I love will be there to help and care for you. Laughing and playing a game, watching a movie and even doing homework is better when I am doing it with a friend or family member. I imagine a home as my friends and my family gathered together around a great big campfire telling stories while roasting marshmallows. Being with each other gives me that welcoming feeling, that warm cozy feeling, that I think everybody should have. A Home is where I am safe with the people I love and where memories just swirl around the walls. People should have homes they love and care about, not just a building they live in. I believe everyone should get a warm feeling of happiness and safety when they are in a place they love because you get that feeling when you are in your home.
