What Home Means to Me

I am so grateful for the home I live in. I mean there's nothing like home. A house is just a 4 walled structure with a foundation. A house is not as special as a home. It is just a small building, a place where you eat, drink, and can sleep. A home is much more than a house. In a home, you feel loved, full of joy and happiness. In a home, you are surrounded by those who love you and care about you. You make dreams into achievements and what was once a house a fun and comfortable home. My home is bright and colourful. It is full of laughter and smiles that brighten up someone's day. It is full of hope. You and your family bond together as you are united in one. You connect to the people around you and learn many different things that you never knew before. You can take your time doing what you need. You're not in a rush to get out. You know that your home is never leaving. It will always be there even if it changes locations. You're never alone. You feel safe and secure. You don’t feel scared because you know that there are many people around you that can always help you. They can always make you feel good. In my home, I always feel good about myself. I don’t take one second to doubt myself. I’ve learned a lot since I got my home. I mean I’ve always been in a home since I was born. Even though my home was once in New York, the moved to Toronto, and once again I moved, I still always learn new things about myself, my family, and my friends. I have created many relationships with many people and that will never leave my home. A home doesn’t have to be in one spot it could be anywhere, you just need to make these different places home. There's a big difference between home and house. No one ever thinks about it but it’s really true. A house is just a place that can give you shelter but a home is where you are with your family, make memories, and make dreams come true. You feel welcomed and included, and safe and comfortable. You feel full of laughter and joy. Houses can turn into homes really easily but you have to make the change. The door to my house is always open. Everyone who comes in feels good and comfortable. They feel open to sharing and don’t feel like they need to hide anything. We are really close with our neighbours. To us, they’re like family. They are always coming in and are always have a big smile on their face. Even though they don’t live in my house, they are a big part of my home. I always feel VERY special and lucky. I can’t imagine what I would do without the home I have. Home is where everyone belongs, which makes me really sad thinking about those who are homeless. Whenever I think about it I want to cry. They try their best to get money, food, clothes, and even just a better life. I think we can help those in our community and city. We can try to give them food, clothes and so much more. I feel that those who have and can afford shelter, food, water, clothes, and so much more should be really grateful and appreciate what we have. Not everyone is as lucky. There are so many special memories and dreams stored inside. It’s also full of family, love, happiness, and joy. I love my home and those memories that are stored inside my heart that will never leave. I wish that Habitat For Humanity is able to get houses for the homeless so that those houses can turn into homes.
