What Does Home Mean to Me?

To me, home is a place where you can really be yourself and not worry about things that you have to be or do. Imagine being a majestic bird, spreading your large, feathery wings and flying free. Using your wings to slice through the air as you sweep by a willow tree, a squirrel chatters at you. Like the bird, home represents freedom and bravery. When I’m at home I get to do whatever I want, and be whoever I want, all because I feel free. Home is a place made for you, your family and your feelings. Feelings are important in your home, but the importance of a home is yet to come. The importance of a home is in the way you feel when you are there. It is important that your home FEELS like a home. If it doesn’t, then it wouldn’t be home, because you wouldn’t want to be there. It’s important that in your home you feel brave, strong, loved, and happy. For instance, when I’m at home, I feel like I’m in a place where I belong as a human. I’m brave and I feel loved at home. These are natural feelings you have when you’re at your home. I have described the importance of a home, but there are things that a home can be. A home can be your place, where you feel safe. A home can be a place where you feel brave, strong and loved. A place where you can have your feelings, whatever those may be. A home is where you can be you, and no one else. Find yourself as an Anaconda snake. You can slither through the trees. They don’t have homes themselves, but they are brave and take over other animals' undefended burrows. You are brave as a snake. Home is a place where you can feel. A home is where you are you. I could go on and on about what home IS, but I haven’t described what home isn’t. Home ISN’T any place. Home isn’t a place where you don’t feel safe, or comfortable. I’m not happy when I don’t feel loved. Picture yourself being brave and free. How about as a jaguar? You’re a jaguar, hunting with your group, and you are helping them catch a deer. Now, you’re eating it. How do you feel? Brave? Do you feel like you fit in? Your home shouldn’t be a place where you don’t fit in. Home isn’t where you could get hurt mentally, emotionally or physically. Home isn’t where you can’t be your true self. Home isn’t where you don’t feel brave. A home is where you can feel like you. Home isn’t a place, it's a feeling. A beautiful feeling. A strong one.
