My Comfortable Place

Not too long ago my dad said he wanted to sell our house because the market is high. I remember I felt stress and sad when he said that. I told my dad that I love living here and I don’t want to leave a place that I call home. 10 Jong Street is where I call home, it’s where I am safe, and protected with my family. It is my happy place, and where I have lots of memories. When I walk around my home, I see pictures on my frig. The pictures are with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who visit from Montreal. The pictures of 14 of them that stay with us during Thanksgiving weekend. Jumping on the outdoor trampoline, playing board games and walks down the street into the pumpkin patch. It is a weekend with lots of food and laughs with the people I care about. When I walk around my home, I see dents and black marks in the basement and the garage. It’s from playing hockey with my mom, my sister, and my friends. When I hear a knock at the door, it’s a friend who lives in the neighbourhood, wanting to hang out. Maybe to play air hockey, video games or shoot pucks in the driveway. On very hot days we run through the lawn sprinklers, laughing. On snowy days, I’m building snowman, and toboggan down the porch stairs. This is my home, where I enjoy spending time with my family. Spending time in the movie theatre, watching the Montreal Canadians play towards the Stanley Cup. Putting on our Montreal clothing and cheering loud and high fiving my mom when Montreal scores. Or having silly dance offs with my sister and friends. These are some of the reasons I call this place my home.
