A place where I can be myself

A home doesn’t have to be big or small, but a very special place with love and kindness. With beautiful people that make you feel safe and warm. A place where I can just be me. My home is a beautiful place where I look forward to Friday nights, watching movies at home with my dad. Or anytime when I bake and decorating cookies with my mom. This home is full of fun times challenging my mom at hockey. Or when I build forts in the living room with my twin brother. Using up all the bed sheets and chairs and laughing when my mom complains about all the washing she’ll need to do. My bedroom is a relaxing place, where I keep things that are special to me. It is decorated with blankets and stuff animals that my grandparents have given me. There’s a white picture frame with photos of people who mean so much to me. On my shelf you’ll find a hockey sportsmanship award that I won. As well as a “Guts” Award I received from Geordie Kinnear when I was at his summer hockey camp in Simcoe. He is a retired NHL Hockey player. When I step outside, I feel the warm and caring neighbours who look out for each other. The friendly faces who always want to chat. This makes me feel safe and relax going for walks or bike rides along the track near the end of my street. Or spending hours playing roller hockey on our quiet, cul du sac. I can count on my 6 years old neighbour Niko, to look out his window to later run out with his hockey stick and join me. Or going for walks down the street to the ice cream shop with my closest friends. This is my comfort zone, the only place that I can call home.
