The Meaning of Home

There once was a boy and a girl. They always played in their little home. Ever since they were younger, they wondered what “Home” meant. One fine day they went out on a walk. They saw these homeless people their age sitting all alone. They had nothing but a ripped-up rag and a little used tin for coins. The girl stared at the homeless kids, she felt very sorry for them and offered them a place to stay. The homeless children were shocked when they heard the news. They wanted to jump with joy! A few months had passed, and the homeless kids finally got back up on their feet and were sent to a children’s shelter. Soon after the girl and boy were playing games in their home when someone rang the doorbell. “Who is it?” The girl asked. “It's us! The homeless kids you helped!” “We want to teach you the meaning of “Home”. Said the kids. “What?” “When we stayed with you, you and your sister always asked what the meaning of home really meant.” The children took the boy and girl outside. They went for a walk to a forest. “H stands for all the heart-warming times you have had!” “O stands for all the overwhelming fun times you have had!” “M stands for all your good and bad memories!” “E stands for all the exciting times you have had in your home!” “You are so very lucky to have a home and to help others for a while is a whole other thing.” “Thank you!” “No, thank you for letting us realize how lucky we are to have a home!” Said the boy Always remember how lucky you are to have what you have and never forget the meaning of home!
