Where is Home?
To me, home is where you were raised and where you belong.
Where you can be who you are all day long.
Even if your home is big or small, short or tall.
It will keep you sheltered and dry from the rainfall.
Home is where most memories take place
Good or bad, happy or sad,
exhilarating or boring.
No matter what, surely, they keep me growing
Home is where you will first learn
That nursery rhyme is what you yearn.
Or learning how to walk, talk and crawl,
Life lessons too, whether you trip or fall.
Not to worry!
You will not be scarred.
Home is where life’s most important people are.
The ones who will have your back, no matter how far
Home is where the strongest bonds are made.
Made with the toughest rope
And the most complex knot.
If you try to untie it… You will be taught,
That all your effort will be for naught.
And so these are my reasons.
Why others should have a home
that will last for all seasons.
But the thing is, it’s not as easy as riding a bike.
Especially when you aren’t protected from a thunderstrike.
Habitat for Humanity, sponsors and volunteers
students and teachers, we all spread cheers.
An affordable home is within the reach
of people longing for a home,
that is not just built on the sands at the beach.
Homes, not washed away by the tides that come
Rather, these are castles that are built from
The love of the family, where we find ourselves,
Where we make memories that we proudly hang on the shelves
Where we learn life’s lessons and treasure relationships.
So, if you ask where home is,
where your heart is,
IS WHERE HOME IS.
