Meaning of Home By Savannah MacLean
I am a house and I have seen so many different things since I have been built. My favourite thing though has been watching the new family who bought me, make me into something of their own. Pretty paint colours, new floors, and cabinets, all done with love and care. Shiny new windows, doors, and decks being built in the backyard and a giant swing set for the bunch of kids that live in me.
I have watched lots of memories being made. I wait patiently each year for what my family calls Christmas. It is so wonderful, my family decorates me with pretty lights and bows. They even put a real tree inside the living room gather around place ornaments on it and sing Christmas songs together. The air fills with sweet smells this time of year as my family bakes in the kitchen making Christmas treats.
Another holiday my family has is Halloween. They put up spooky decorations and do this thing called carving pumpkins, they listen to Halloween music and make pumpkin pie. There is a Halloween party here with lots of family members dressed up in costumes.
Birthdays, Anniversaries, swimming in the pool, BBQs, Backyard campouts, Easter egg hunts, Graduations, movie nights, campfires, First days of school. All of these things happen every year
right here under my roof.
I am a safe place for my family to live and I am filled with joy and memories. I am more than just a
house. I am a Home because of my family who lives in me and the love that they share here.
That to me is the meaning of a home.
