What Home Means to Me

A home and a house may both refer to a place where one lives at, but they are not the same thing if given a deeper meaning. A house is typically a structure made of bricks and cement and serves as a habit for people, while a home is where happy and unforgettable memories happen. My mother always say that "A home is where the heart is" . This is really what home means to me. It is where you can be yourself and have everyone support you on who you truly are. It is a relaxing place where you can stay calm, show your true feelings and express yourself freely. A safe haven where happiness and all kinds of emotions are shared between your loved ones, a home is where I can find comfort whenever I feel down and a place where I can forget the sad stuff that happened to me at school. We celebrate important things at home like birthdays, events and holidays, together with our family. Our loved ones visit us at home too, like our aunts, uncles and cousins for small gatherings and get-togethers. We can also have some pets like dogs, cats, hamsters, or rabbits at home-pets that will serve as our best friends and source of fun. At home, you can have your own space like your bedroom where you can personalize the design based on your likings. Here, you can express yourself more and be creative as much as you want. I personally had my room set-up the way I liked it to be-colorful, comfortable and full of things that I love. As the saying goes "There's really no place like home". For me, it's like when you visit friends' house for hours to bond and play with them, but at the end of the day, you still find your feet dragging you back to the only place where you can truly bond with the people you love, a place where you can be immersed into the comfort that is home.
