The Complexities of Home

The meaning of home is hard to explain. Farming is a chore, my family business goes back generations, and my family is humongous. Hello this is the meaning of home to me. My farm, 550 acres of pasture, barns, fields, and bullets. Before farm construction, our farm was a life rich bush, perfect for hunting. Our farm houses all different breeds of cattle, which includes Angus, Simmentals, and Shorthorns. As a calf cow operation, we calve cows in the winter, which brings new life to the world. As a next generation farmer, I need to learn the history of the farm. Our farm has been going for 110 years, as we started in the 1810s. My family business is an agricultural manufacturing business, and an animal supplies business. My family's first business is run by my uncle, who was the last class in Guelph for the agricultural engineering division, and now he designs animal chutes and contraptions. My family's other business is a show supply business, which I work at, we sell paint, glue and other supplies. Family, the topic which must have a place at home. My main family originates from Scotland, the home of the angus cow, the almighty breed that shaped Canada. My family had a small herd of beef cattle in the hills. This is where my dad's side came from, with our farming blood, we travelled to Canada for a better life. Now we venture to my mom's side, who came from Ireland, and moved to Canada due to the Irish Potato Famine. My main family includes 416 head of cattle, our grandmother lives near our old farmhouse with our puppy, my mom, dad and little brother. In conclusion, for me, the meaning of home is complex.
